-Patrick, également cadre dans l'administration publique, il tient le rôle de chanteur et de guitariste rythmique.
Un Peu D'Histoire
Le groupe sous sa forme actuelle est né en septembre 2017 des cendres de « Black Roses », suite au départ d'un de ses membres.Au printemps 2016, Silvano et Michel, deux amis d'enfance qui étaient en standby musical depuis quelques temps, décident de former « Black Roses », groupe orienté hard-rock. Rapidement, Martin qui joue de la batterie dans un groupe de reprises et Jean-Marc (également bassiste du groupe Burnham Lads Club) sont recrutés et quelques mois plus tard, ce fut le tour de Patrick, pour le poste de chanteur.
Suite à de fortes dissensions au sein du groupe, Michel quitte « Black Roses » les laissant sans guitariste rythmique et les obligeant à annuler malheureusement deux concerts prévus. Il s’en est suivi une période de doutes et de remises en question afin de déterminer quelles suites apporter au groupe et sous quelle forme. Ils avaient décidé de trouver un remplaçant, mais malgré le nombre important d'auditions, aucun musicien ne faisait l'affaire.
C’est ainsi qu’en septembre 2017, ils décident de « tout » effacer : poursuivre sous forme de quatuor – Patrick reprenant le poste de guitariste rythmique en plus de celui de chanteur – réorienter le style musical vers du rock/métal alternatif et donc, bien évidemment, de changer de nom… qui sera « Reign the Darkness ! ».
Principalement sous l'impulsion du nouveau guitariste rythmique et chanteur, les nouvelles compositions s'articulent désormais autour d'instruments sous-accordés, une alternance de chant clair et de growl, le tout soutenu par ce mélange de riffs assez lourds et d’harmonies mélodieuses… tous des ingrédients typiques du métal alternatif.
Quelques chansons sont rapidement finalisées et le groupe se produit sur une petite scène locale, pour un premier concert où il obtient un certain succès d’estime (pour son énergie et sa disponibilité). Quelques concerts plus tard et le répertoire s'étoffant de plus en plus, ils ont décidé d'entrer en studio d'enregistrement afin d’auto-produire un mini EP et c'est ainsi qu’en février 2019, au Rec Studio, sous la houlette de Serge Morattel (ingénieur du son qui a enregistré les albums Monstre Ordinaire et L’épreuve du contraire de Lofofora) que le groupe enregistre trois titres. S’en suivront un clip vidéo tourné au printemps 2019, quelques concerts et pleins de projets afin de se faire une belle place dans le monde du métal !
Depuis quelques mois maintenant, le groupe a enfin trouvé un remplaçant au poste de batteur, Benjamin (également batteur pour Deafwish). En effet, Martin a décidé de consacrer sa vie à d’autres occupations/passions et après quelques mois de recherche, ils ont trouvé celui qu'ils appellent « la perle rare »! Ils se sont donc lancés dans la composition de nouvelles chansons ainsi que des répétitions intensives pour que Benjamin apprenne rapidement les anciens morceaux, en vue des futurs concerts.
A Propos Du Nom
Après Black Roses, et avec la nouvelle orientation, le groupe voulait un nom qui coupe complètement avec le passé. Ils recherchaient quelque chose de « volontairement inquiétant », afin de jouer sur l'image sombre que nous définissons des musiciens qui jouent ce genre musical. Le point d'exclamation souligne le côté théâtral.
Pourtant, ils sont de simples pères de famille, avec une vie assez simple, mais passionnés par la musique !
Influences Musicales
Chaque membre a des influences différentes.
-Jean-Marc : groupes New Wave des 80s ainsi que Leonard Cohen et David Bowie.
-Silvano : groupes Hard-Rock et Heavy des 80s et 90s comme Whitesnake, Iron Maiden, Scorpion ou encore Metallica.
-Benjamin : System Of A Dawn, Machine Head, Diesel Machine.
-Patrick : principalement du métal, De Behemoth ou Dyscarnate, jusqu'à Alter Bridge ou Shindown mais également John Mellencamp ou Jacques Brel.
Anecdote(s)
« Fiers ? Oui… d’être devenus des amis et d’être aussi sains dans nos relations, au-delà de nos différences et des écueils que chacun de nous traverse. Nous n’avons jamais eu un mot plus haut que l’autre, pas une seule tension dans les processus de composition ou de choix pour le groupe, tous les sujets peuvent être abordés et discutés, tant musicalement que personnellement et nous avons une motivation à vouloir devenir professionnels assez incroyable à nos âges (sourires). C’est de cela dont je suis le plus fier en tout cas. »

Their Story
The band in its current form was born in September 2017 from the ashes of "Black Roses", following the departure of one of its members. In spring 2016, Silvano and Michel, two childhood friends who had been on musical standby for some time , decided to form “Black Roses”, a hard-rock oriented band. Quickly, Martin who plays the drums in a cover band and Jean-Marc (also bassist of the group Burnham Lads Club) are recruited and a few months later, it was Patrick's turn, for the position of singer.
Following strong dissensions within the band, Michel leaves "Black Roses", letting them without rhythmic guitarist and obliging them to unfortunately cancel two concerts planned. There followed a period of doubts and questioning in order to determine what follow-up to bring to the group and in what form. They had decided to find a replacement, but despite the large number of auditions, no musician did the trick.
Thus in September 2017, they decided to “erase” everything: continue in the form of a quartet - Patrick taking over the position of rhythm guitarist in addition to that of singer - reorienting the musical style towards alternative rock / metal and therefore , of course, to change the name… which will be “Reign the Darkness! "
Mainly driven by the new rhythm guitarist and singer, the new compositions are now articulated around sub-tuned instruments, an alternation of clear vocals and growl, all supported by this mixture of fairly heavy riffs and harmonies melodious… all ingredients typical of alternative metal.
Some songs are quickly finalized and the group performs on a small local stage, for a first concert where it obtains a certain success of esteem (for its energy and its availability). A few concerts later and the repertoire growing more and more, they decided to enter the recording studio in order to self-produce a mini EP and this is how in February 2019, at Rec Studio, under the leadership of Serge Morattel (sound engineer who recorded the albums Ordinary Monster and Lofofora's Trial of the Opposite) that the group recorded three titles. A video clip shot in spring 2019 will follow, a few concerts and lots of projects in order to make a good place for yourself in the metal world!
For a few months now, the band has finally found a replacement for drummer, Benjamin (also drummer for Deafwish). Indeed, Martin decided to devote his life to other occupations / passions and after a few months of research, they found the one they call "the rare pearl"! They therefore embarked on the composition of new songs as well as intensive rehearsals so that Benjamin quickly learned the old songs, for future concerts.
About The Name
After Black Roses, and with the new orientation, the band wanted a name that completely cut with the past. They were looking for something "voluntarily disturbing", in order to play on the dark image that we define of the musicians who play this musical genre. The exclamation mark highlights the theatrical side.
However, they are simple fathers of families, with a fairly simple life, but passionate about music!

Each member has different influences.
-Jean-Marc: New Wave bands from the 80s as well as Leonard Cohen and David Bowie.

Anecdote(s)
"Proud? Yes… to have become friends and to be as healthy in our relationships, beyond our differences and the pitfalls that each of us crosses. We never had a word higher than the other, not a single tension in the composition or choice process for the band, all subjects can be approached and discussed, both musically and personally and we have a motivation to wanting to become professionals quite amazing at our ages (smiles). That's what I'm most proud of anyway. "
