A look back at Of Mice & Men

Formed in 2009 in California, the metalcore band got off to a flying start, signing to Rise Records just a few months later. 6 albums have been released, followed by two more, 'Echo' in 2019 and 'Tether' this year, on the Sharptone Records label.

Alternative Metal band Caskets started out in 2015 in the UK. Also signed to Sharptone Records, the band has released 1 EP ('Ghost Like You') and 2 Albums, 'Lost Souls' released in 2021 and 'Reflections' a few months ago. Recently, the band has been touring Europe (with 'We Came As Romance' and then 'Of Mice & Men') and the USA (with 'Bless The Fall' this year and 'Crown The Empire' and 'Set It Off' next year).

The band's year of creation remains unknown for the moment, but with only one recently-released EP to their credit, we can deduce that they're brand-new. And yes, only one EP, but an EP that has already enabled them to tour Europe with Caskets and Of Mice & Men! And last September, the band announced that they had signed with Mascot Label Group, United Talent Agency and Raw Power Management, so there's plenty more to come.

A Cabaret Sauvage without queues, but a successful concert!

As we all know, since the health crisis, waiting all day in front of the venue has become less and less common, especially in the world of metal. But we were surprised by the short queue at Cabaret Sauvage that evening.

The room was only half-full when Defects took to the stage. Yet the audience was very receptive. Headbangs, jumps and even a small circle pit were all in evidence. Between the audience and the band, who lent themselves to the game and didn't flinch in front of the small venue, the concert became very intimate and some things happened, things that wouldn't have been possible with a full house; the singer and guitarist descended into the audience, giving another dimension to their performance, which was short, admittedly, but much appreciated by the metalheads present that evening.

Caskets were applauded from the moment they took to the stage. The room was almost full, and the fans in the audience were jumping and screaming, even if they didn't know the band on stage, just for the love of good music. The second band of the evening played songs from their latest album, such as 'Believe' and 'More Than Misery', as well as more familiar ones like 'Drown In Emotion' and 'Glass Heart', with which they left the stage.

Of Mice & Men arrive with a packed setlist, including 'Castaway', 'Warpaint', 'Indigo' and 'Into The Sun' from their latest album, as well as songs like 'The Depths' and 'Bones Exposed' from their earlier work. The crowd goes wild, and the band never fails to interact with them, offering some fans unforgettable moments. Pogos, slams and walls of death followed, creating an atmosphere worthy of Hellfest!

The musicians seemed to be having as much fun as their fans, and they didn't forget to mention it when saying goodbye to the audience.

In short, we had our doubts about when the fans would arrive, but not about the bands. And in the end, no one disappointed us! The fans were slow to arrive (it's also important to understand that the concert was on a Wednesday night), but they were ready for an unforgettable evening, which the musicians did not fail to deliver.
