Scowl, Modern Color & MSS FRNCE : A Wild Farewell at Le Trabendo

On May 23rd, Paris’ Trabendo shook to the sound of a punk-hardcore storm, marking the final night of Scowl and Modern Color’s European tour. This last stop brought together raw energy, heartfelt friendship, and a beautiful dose of chaos.

The night opened with French punk outfit MSS FRNCE, performing in front of a still-growing crowd. With tracks from their latest EP VI, including Bahamas and R FRNCE, the band immediately set the tone. The frontman didn’t hesitate to pass the mic to the front row, creating a strong bond with the audience. The set ended in quirky fashion: a funky tune played while the band packed up their gear—dancing all the while. Add to that a setlist scrawled on a Heineken beer carton, and you’ve got pure punk charm.

Soon after, Modern Color took the stage. The California-based group delivered a dynamic and emotionally rich set, blending post-hardcore, emo, and dreamy melodies. They showcased tracks from their latest album There Goes The Dream, along with fan favorites like Pale and On & Off. Drummer Vince Nguyen (also of Militarie Gun) even threw in a few surprise screams. The atmosphere was both mellow and electric, with scattered moshing and plenty of genuine chemistry between band members—teasing each other, laughing, and exchanging playful middle fingers. A true celebration of friendship and the road behind them.

Then came the eruption: Scowl. Opening with Opening Night, the venue exploded into chaos. Stage dives, endless slams, and circle pits transformed the room into a frenzy. A Garfield plush watched from atop the drum kit as frontwoman Kat Moss, fierce with her signature green hair, hypnotized the crowd with boundless energy and ferocious vocals. Cole Gilbert, Malachi Greene, Mikey Bigolco, and Bailey Lupo followed suit with a tight, high-energy performance, tearing through a setlist that featured B.A.B.E., Shot Down, Cellophane, Fantasy, Bloodhound, and Fleshed Out.

As the night marked the final show of the tour, Scowl paid tribute to Modern Color with a heartfelt Instagram story:“Last show of our run in Europe/UK. I love my little family so much. [...] MC forever and ever I love you guys so bad. Can’t believe I get to travel the world while also hanging out with some of my bestest friends.”

After a relentless onslaught of hits, the night ended (too quickly) with Are We All Angels and Special. By the time the lights came back on, Le Trabendo had been shaken to its core.

MSS FRNCE, Modern Color, and Scowl each brought something unique to the table—but all delivered with sincerity, sweat, and soul. A night to remember, for artists and fans alike.
