On September 11, JJ WILDE took to the stage at Les Etoiles ('stars' in english) in Paris, a sold-out concert not to be missed !
JJ WILDE, some old rock'n roll
A little more Pop than Joan Jett but with the same craziness as Pat Benatar, JJ Wilde had already started in style with a debut EP entitled 'Wilde Eyes, Steady Hands' in 2019 and her debut album 'Ruthless' in 2020, which, let's not forget, won the Juno Awards (2021) for Best Rock Album of the Year. An award not won by a woman since Alanis Morissette in 1996! And while we haven't heard much from her lately, she ain't about to stop!
'Vices', an album with a title that speaks for itself
On September 20, 2024 (in just a few days), we'll be able to discover this new album, made up in part of the 'Best Of Me (part 1)' EP, which was a trailer, a first wave of this long-awaited album.
Kicking off this new era with 'Arizona', we find a slightly punchier sound and a JJ Wilde who's going wild. However, we'll be telling you more about it on September 20, when the album is released, as we had the chance to speak with the singer of 'Hands' and ask her a few questions on the subject. Why 'Vices', why 'Arizona', why this renewal...? See you next Friday to find out!
JJ Wilde at 'Les Etoiles' of Paris
The capital was lucky enough to welcome the one and only JJ Wilde to one of its finest stages. On September 11, the crowd were already lining up in front of the Les Etoiles theater, ready to discover the latest releases in live version. A crowd that quickly and completely filled this legendary venue. At 8.30pm, the lights went down to make way for a colorful sold-out concert.
When she arrives, she offers us an “emotional” sequence, with softer songs and a few words in French to thank the audience in front of her. And despite this choice to start with less danceable music, we can see the crowd dancing and clapping their hands. A very receptive audience, but also one ready to dance, a wish that JJ Wilde later fulfilled by transitioning with 'Takes Me Back' before moving on to more upbeat tunes.
The setlist, as you'd expect, drew from her entire discography, focusing more on the forthcoming project without neglecting the others. The setlist also included 'Toxic', her latest release, which she sang on stage for the first time! A pleasure for her fans, as well as for herself. But the most eagerly awaited high-light of the evening was undoubtedly her rocking cover of 'Piece Of My Heart' originally by Big Brother & The Holding Company and Janis Joplin!
The lights go out again after an hour and a half of show, but the crowd still wants more and cheers, sings, applauds... Until the artist and her team return to the stage to play an unreleased track entitled 'Giving Up, Giving In'.
All in all, it was an emotional evening, with a smiling, happy JJ Wilde and an equally delighted audience.
