It looks like it’s back-to-school season for everyone! And that’s exactly what today’s lineup of new releases suggests. Ranging from rock’n’roll to stoner metal, we’ve put together a short (or not-so-short) list of what caught our attention today - in alphabetical order, because my OCD hasn’t left the chat yet.

156/Silence is releasing From A Distance today, and has no plans to send out invitations. They’re letting you come on your own. It’s more economical that way. Following People Watching, released in 2024 -which had already shown a desire to break away from the standard metalcore formula- the band continues here to push the boundaries a little further. The first previews already offered us songwriting that was as diverse as it was surprising, with delightfully varied sounds.

Seven years after Boneshaker, Airbourne are unveiling their new self-titled album today. And while the Australian legends have recently proven that they can still shake up venues and festivals around the world, they are now bringing us proof that Rock has not thrown in the towel. So put on your cap: it’s time to take off from the tarmac.

Hun: The Hu’s ancestral, family-centered, respectful, and spellbinding prayer for war and peace. This is how I would describe this album, which was just released on July 24.
