New releases on September 4 : it isn't going easy on us!

It looks like it’s back-to-school season for everyone! And that’s exactly what today’s lineup of new releases suggests. Ranging from rock’n’roll to stoner metal, we’ve put together a short (or not-so-short) list of what caught our attention today - in alphabetical order, because my OCD hasn’t left the chat yet.



156/Silence - "From A Distance"

A long-awaited album that didn't disappoint! (Yes, two years is a long time when you’re a fan.) The album is bold and heavy, yet features softer touches, breaking the mold of modern metalcore. The quintet is building on the momentum of People Watching (2024) and is set to get all of Europe moshing on a tour with The Devil Wears Prada, Novelists and Oversize this fall !

Airbourne - "Airbourne"

You’re bound to know these legends of Australian rock. And if I mentioned a long wait just before, can you imagine the seven-year wait for this one?

Still, there’s no reason to hold a grudge - the album was well worth the wait!


With wild riffs ready to keep you dancing all night long, this album is packed with anthems you’ll want to scream along to at concerts as much as you’ll want to play on repeat at home - with the volume turned all the way up, of course (your neighbors deserve a good dose of music, too!)


Airbourne proves that they’re still the masters of Australian rock, and that it ain't about to change! (In case you hadn’t figured it out: the editorial team love that band)

Blue Medusa - "CROCODILE."

Yes, it’s Alissa White-Gluz. But it’s also Alyssa Day and Dani Sophia - and for this track, even Beatriz Mariano from Okkultist! And today, they’re releasing a new single that further establishes the band as a must-watch new act. And while the single is built on tension (a feeling perfectly captured between the hard-hitting moments that reflect your racing heart and the softer moments that echo the paralysis caused by fear) there’s a subtle detail that will make you love the band, and Alissa even more than you already do.


If you’ve seen the music video (if not, it’s right next to this text), you’ve seen that stunning guitar played by the iconic singer, created by Nik Huber Guitars as part of a three-way collaboration between Sea Shepherd, Doyle Wolfgang von Frankenstein, and Blue Medusa. And when you say “collaboration with Sea Shepherd,” that means the guitar will be auctioned off to benefit the organization’s efforts to protect marine life. Great music for a great cause: we love it.

Harrison Gordon - "Bliss"

Do you like punk rock in the vein of State Champs or Hot Mulligan? Harrison Gordon’s new album is for you! You’ll be able to scream out your depression, your unease, or your frustration about that day when Karen drove you crazy at work - all from your car with the volume cranked up to 100 on the stereo. On the album: 11 tracks that will make you think, cry, and smile... In short, it’s a huge emotional ride that’ll brighten up your life and be your daily companion - because this is an album that’s bound to end up on your playlists. There are even a few music videos that’ll help you dive deeper into the band’s world, like the one for Like Me Less, or the one for Pretty (which I’ve linked right here) that was filmed during the band’s live shows and rehearsals!

Movements - "Happier Now"

People are going to say again that I’m a shill for the Fearless Records roster… And you’re right, but to understand why, I invite you to listen to this new album. And while I’ve talked about emotions in reviews of other releases, here, the music hits you right in the gut. And that’s the power of Movements’ post-hardcore. It’s in-your-face, and it gets a message across; basically, it’s made by humans, for humans. The goal isn’t to say, “Ugh, life sucks and is complicated,” but to give voice to that little voice in our heads that makes everything seem so negative, so it takes up a little less space up there. And all of this is set to dissonant riffs that embrace such a soft, tortured voice. A perfect blend of melancholy and hope that’s sure to lift your spirits!

President - "Blood Of Your Empire"

Well, I know some people who aren’t going to be happy about this. But there’s something for everyone, and if this isn’t your thing, just move on to the next band.


For those who are interested, this debut 10-track album is a very promising step for the band and follows in the footsteps of their critically acclaimed (and, above all, stream-acclaimed) first EP, King Of Terrors. It showcases President’s experimental style through more electronic passages that echo heavier riffs. In short, the band is further establishing itself as a group of anonymous artists who want to make you think about the world you live in and the society you grew up in - and which is still very much here. Because at some point, you’ve got to call a spade a spade.

Reclus.é - "Belly Of The Whale"

This is a single. But not just any single. It’s a dreamy single, packed with meaning, and it heralds the band’s debut album, The World Can’t Take Much More, set for release on November 13 via Rise Records.


In this new track, the heaviness of the music clashes with vocals that are so soft and mesmerizing, before it lets loose to offer you the best of a genre blend we’ve never heard before.


One thing is certain: this new project from Daniel P. Carter and Soren Bryce is sure to keep making waves!

Revnoir - "Fracture"

The new must-see act on the modern French metal scene - you’ve definitely heard of them! Plus, they played at almost all of your favorite festivals this summer -and on the main stages, no less- because they’d be crazy to turn down anything!


And as a band gains momentum, it needs more songs to play bigger sets in bigger venues (and they certainly deserve it)! That’s exactly why, with this new banger, Revnoir is announcing their debut album: Sometimes I Feel You, Sometimes I Don’t, set for release on November 27 via Arising Empire. Between Fracture and Alchemised, we already have a great glimpse of what this album might sound like, but something tells me the band isn’t done surprising us yet. So let’s listen to the track and pre-order (or pre-save) this album right now, because trust me, you don’t want to miss out!

SIM - "HOOMAN AFTER ALL"

Yeah, I know, it came out on the 2nd, not the 4th... But when something this crazy comes out, you can slip it in wherever you want. If you’re an anime fan, you already know them (especially if you have good taste). And if you don’t know them, this album is the perfect way to discover them. It features all the band’s influences since their early days, plus must-hear collaborations with Hanabie and Masato from Coldrain.


Beyond that, the album fits perfectly with this article thanks to its themes, which explore the complexity of the human condition ; our doubts, fears, and emotions…

The band pushes the envelope, adding more upbeat sections here, distorted riffs there… And it’s a formula I could enjoy 24/7. If heavy, rhythmic Japanese metal -not the “kawaii” kind- is your thing, go add Hooman After All to your playlists, and grab your tickets for the Elysée Montmartre in February 2026!

Theory Of A Deadman - "Part 1: Funeral Songs"

Are you a fan of “divorced dad rock” ? Because this is clearly made for you.

Heavy riffs, the band’s signature humorous tone, playfull lyrics… This is pure Theory Of A Deadman, in an era when nobody makes music like this anymore. And -damn it- we’ve been sorely missing it!


But the best part of this EP isn’t the music you’ll be blasting in your car on the way to the bar, it’s the “Part 1” in the title. The Canadian quartet clearly isn’t ready to retire anytime soon, much to our delight!


The band is also inviting you to join them in February 2026 at La Cigale to share a beer and scream along to the lyrics of this new 6-track EP that’s going to be on repeat at your place.

The Streamliner - "Parasite"

Two rooms, two vibes. Here, we’re taking you on a journey through unapologetic, hard-hitting stoner rock. The French trio draws inspiration from pop culture to immerse the listener (that is, you) in their dark universe. And for this track, they chose Alien (yes, you need a bit of cultural knowledge to fully follow and understand the band’s universe - and spoiler alert: we love it).


Parasite shifts between trippy moments and heavy ones, where Darkim’s uniquely distinctive voice soothes us for a few moments before plunging us into a cathartic outburst of violence - which the frontwoman (we’re girl's girls here) will describe much better than I can: “

It’s a song about the moment when you realize you’ve been manipulated by those closest to you... When you pick yourself up, face it head-on, and promise yourself you’ll never be their puppet again.”


The album drops on November 13, and pre-orders are already open! So at the very least, go pre-save it -and ideally, pre-order it- because it’s important to support the local scene, friends!

Wage War - "Landfall"

Last but certainly not least, Wage War are releasing Landfall today, the first single from the eponymous album, which is set to drop on October 9 via Fearless Records (yes, them again. Are you starting to see why I love their roster?).


It Calls Me By Name, dropped earlier this year, seems like just a taste of what’s to come from this American quintet! This first track delivers the violence of vengeance in a poetic form, as the band does so well. It’s crazy how many emotions you can convey through music, isn’t it?


And what better way to follow up a new album than with a tour to showcase it to the world? That’s it. So we’ll see you at the Trabendo on January 22, 2027!
